Evaluation : Question 7

The most useful thing I have learnt after looking back on my preliminary task is how conventions of a magazine help appeal to a target audience and also how this can be done. For example: using a stereotypical person to appeal to a particular mainstream audience and this can be done by using a female teenage model for a girl based magazine.

I also learnt how to use professional media applications/software such as InDesign. My preliminary task only shows and demonstrates the basic features and techniques of InDesign, whereas my finalized music magazine shows a more professional overall look and the concepts used in the magazine have had more thought put behind them.

Finally I have learnt to fully research other magazines, target audiences and institutions. This is useful because it helps create a better understanding for my magazine and also I can select the best institution for my magazine to maximise funding and also develop a bigger audience.

Evaluation : Question 4

My magazine target audience includes:
Age: 16-21
Gender: Male
Profile:
A mainstream male audience, they enjoy clubbing music heavily and visit clubbing events/raves frequently. They enjoy artists such as : DJ Fresh, DJ Bl3nd, Fresco, Netsky and others. They shop at clothing stores such as: Top man and river island. They spend a considerable amount of money a year on audio equipment to fully enjoy and appreciate their favourite music. They are mainly students or have a low wage full time job, Eg: Store worker, Shop assistant etc... This means this price of the magazine will be low at around 2-3 pound. The audience is generally interested in women and therefore advertisements may contain girls to help sell products and the magazine will also advertise clubbing events and clubbing music.

Overall my audience will be male and a stereotypical club lover. Lots of money is spent on their love for music and also their appearance.
